Vikki Schifer, 60, of Bucyrus, died on Saturday May 30, 2026 at her home as result of a variety of declining health issues.
Vikki was born on June 13, 1965 in Bucyrus, the daughter of James F. Stineman who survives and the late Carol Ann (Etzinger) Stineman. She was a 1983 graduate of Bucyrus High School and while at Bucyrus was a four-year cheerleader and member of both cross country and track teams. She was the first female cross-country runner in the county to run a sub-20-minute pace and was proud to have qualified for the state cross country meet during her senior year.
Vikki met Brady Schifer while working at Clancy’s. The two hit it off and on September 14, 1985 they married. They shared 32 years of marriage until his passing on October 24, 2017. Vikki worked for a period at Fischer Hardware until she was hired by Frank Henize to work at his dental practice. She enjoyed 20 years at his practice, retiring only due to her decline in health.
Vikki had the heart of a champion and loved helping others. She enjoyed gathering at the Pelican Coffee House, where she’d enjoy one of her favorite coffees while catching up with those nearest and dearest. These gatherings often led to a stroll around the Amish Vault, leading to the purchase of something for the home. She prided herself in decorating for holidays and seasons and like any great homemaker would, she took meticulous care of where they lived.
Vikki will be remembered as a loyal person who was beautiful inside and out. She had a big heart for animals and enjoyed the companionship offered by her various cats owned throughout life. She liked to look her best, even when simply watching a Hallmark movie, as you never know who might stop by.
In addition to her dad, Jim, Vikki is survived by her son, Austin Schifer; brother, Rick (Rebecca) Stineman and a handful of close friends who she considered family.
She was preceded in death by her mom, Carol; husband Brady; brothers, Douglas Stineman and Michael Stineman and a sister-in-law, Chris Stineman.
Her family will receive friends from 10 – 11:55 am on Thursday, June 4 at Wise Funeral Service, immediately followed by her memorial service at 12:00 noon with Certified Celebrant Lisa Snyder officiating.
If desired donations may be made payable to the Humane Society Serving Crawford County and these gifts will be accepted through the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her guestbook page at www.wisefuneral.com.
