With heavy hearts, the family of Theodore L. Guinther announces his peaceful passing on August 31, 2025, at home with his wife of 57 years.
Born on March 12, 1946 in Galion, Ohio, Ted was the eldest son of the late Cecil and Evelyn (Ruckman) raised on their family farm near Caledonia. A 1964 graduate of River Valley High School (Marion), Ted also attended Marion Technical College to study CAD design. In his younger years, Ted enjoyed hunting and was very accomplished in trap shooting.
Ted moved to Monroe, Ohio where he met his future wife, Rose Mary Fisher. They were married on August 31, 1968. Moving to Galion, Ohio in 1981, Ted, his brother, Wendell and father, Cecil, farmed the family farm together for several years. Ted retired from Marion Power Shovel as a designer in the engineering department in 2005. Ted enjoyed antique farm machinery and the restoration of several tractors. He was also an accomplished woodworker, making several pieces of furniture still in the family home today.
The family enjoyed traveling to most of the states in the US. Ted and Rose also made several trips to Canada and Mexico. Ted was a member of Bucyrus United Methodist Church and the Crawford Antique Farm Machinery Association for several years.
Ted is survived by his bride of 57 years, Rose Guinther; sons, Jason (Annie) Guinther and Andy (Kathy) Guinther; grandchildren, Brice, Kennedy, Hayden, Clara, Piper, Ella, Norah, and Henry; and brother, Wendell (Belinda) Guinther and family.
The Guinthers will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Sunday, September 7 from 1-3 pm at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus where his memorial service will be held on Monday, September 8 at 4:00 pm with Pastor Matt Anderson officiating. He will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery privately.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers can be made payable to Bucyrus UMC or Crawford Antique Farm Machinery Association and given at the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on the guestbook of Ted’s tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
