BUCYRUS

Tauwanta A. Scott

Tauwanta Ann Scott, 85, of Bucyrus, passed peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at Orchard Park Assisted Living.

She was born on October 23, 1940 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Elmer and Audrey (Gilliam) Turner. Tauwanta was a 1958 graduate of Vanceburg High School and on August 1, 1959, she married Jackie Ginn “Jack” Scott. The newlyweds made their way to Bucyrus, and Tauwanta spent a short time working at Swan before caring for her family as a homemaker. She also worked at Uhlmans, The Stage and babysat for a period.

Tauwanta had a strong love for family, and throughout the years, enjoyed many travels to beaches, campgrounds and her home state of Kentucky to visit with extended loved ones. She and Jack enjoyed dancing and were particularly fond of square dancing. They danced whenever they got the chance, especially if Johnny Tucker was calling a dance.

Tauwanta was a member at the Lincoln Avenue Church of Christ and formerly the AmVets, where she and Jack liked to dance. She looked forward to her having her hair done on a weekly basis and for a period of time, this occurred twice a week. Whenever she had family over for a visit, everyone knew where she kept her sweets, as they, along with a cold Pepsi were consumed daily. Tauwanta will be remembered as a fun-loving lady and certainly kept life exciting for all with her feisty personality.

She will be missed by daughters, Sherry (Shane) Stuckman of Bucyrus, and Jackie (Chad) Bukey of Dublin; grandchildren, Tracy (Jenna) Dyer, Nikki Dyer, Shayla (Collin) Farmer, Audrey Bukey, Anderson Bukey and Ayden Bukey; great grandchildren, Chase, Callan and Finn Dyer as well as extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Audrey Turner; husband of 58 years, Jack Scott; son, Randy Scott and brother Larry Leon Turner.

Her family will receive friends from 10 – 11:55 am on Saturday, June 6 at Wise Funeral Service, immediately followed by her funeral at 12:00 noon with Evangelist Gordon Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

If desired, donations may be made payable to either Lincoln Avenue Church of Christ or to Avita Hospice and these gifts will be accepted through the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her guestbook page at www.wisefuneral.com.
