Sandra C. Lyons, 78, passed away Sunday morning, June 2, 2024 at the Ohio Living Sarah Moore Home, where she had resided for the past five years.
She was born in Bucyrus on November 13, 1945 to the late Daryl J. Zellner and Delphia H. (Ward) Zellner. She grew up attending Lykens School and was in the first graduating class of Wynford High School in 1964. On December 28, 1963, she married Glen William Lyons who preceded her in death on July 25, 1990.
Sandy was an outgoing and hardworking farm wife, homemaker, and gifted baker who loved to host gatherings and volunteer for organizations she held dear to her heart. In years past, she enjoyed attending Red Hat Club outings, participated in Speakeasy productions, volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and Contact Crawford County, and supported the Crawford Antique Farm Machinery Association. Her knack for baking and decorating wedding cakes led her to work for Food Town where she baked and worked the deli counter until her retirement. Sandy also loved to travel with a Grand Canyon hike being one her most memorable adventures. She adored her three grandchildren and was a woman of faith, worshiping with the former Olive Branch United Methodist Church and Bucyrus Nazarene Church when her health allowed.
Sandy is survived by daughters, Victoria Stanford and Dawn (Rich) Cochran; grandchildren, Monica Stanford, Ted Cochran (Jocelyn Blasko), and Gabe Cochran; one expected great granddaughter; sister, Cheryl (Lon) Sipe; sisters-in-law, Debbie Zellner, Sandy (Tom) Kellogg, Jenny Lyons, and Helen Lyons; and many extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son, Glen Wesley Lyons and brother, Larry J. Zellner.
All services will be held on Saturday, June 8 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Family will receive friends and share light snacks from 11:00 am until 12:55 pm. The funeral will begin at 1:00 pm with Sandy’s friend, Pastor Christine Bell officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Sulphur Springs.
Memorial donations are encouraged to be made payable to the Humane Society Serving Crawford County, Crawford Antique Farm Machinery Association, or a charity of the donor’s choice and can be given at the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on the guestbook.
The family would like to thank Old Dog Alehouse and Ciao Café in Delaware for their compassionate service during our Sunday outings with mom. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
