Russ Bond, 67, of Bucyrus, died Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at the Ohio State Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past few years.
Russ was born on December 1, 1958 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Franklin Dee and Nancy Ruth (Harper) Bond. He grew up in southern Ohio, living in both Portsmouth and Ironton before enlisting in the Army. Following his time in the service, he moved to Oregon for a period of time before making his way to Bucyrus in the mid-1980s. He dabbled in various occupations, including landscaping and construction prior to becoming disabled. He married Kristi L. (Seyer) in 2011 and she survives.
Russ enjoyed many years of camping and boating along the Ohio River and loved fishing at area reservoirs. He cherished time spent with his family, especially Kristi and his grandbabies. He worked on many cars over the years and for relaxation, he liked watching football. His two favorite teams being the Buckeyes and Bengals.
In addition to Kristi, his wife of 14 years, Russ is survived by children, Shannon (Trista) Bond, Kendra (Jeff) Fisher, Megan (Jeremy) Kulbertis, and Noah Bond; grandchildren, JJ Bond, Aiden Fisher, Elliott Fisher, and Khloe Kulbertis; siblings, Tim (Kimberly) Bond, Danny (Pam) Bond, Penny Lloyd, Connie Wyeth, and Lisa (Mike) Brown.
Along with his parents, Frank and Ruth, he was preceded in death by sons, Rusty and Wyatt Bond; siblings, Barb Byrne, Charlie Bond, and Jeff Bond; and nephew, Paul Eric Dyer.
Russ’ family will celebrate his life privately. If desired, donations can be made payable to a charity of the donor’s choice.
