Rox Ann Claus, 68 of Bucyrus, died Friday, December 30, 2022 at Promedica of Bucyrus following a recent decline in health. She had been a longtime resident and loved all the relationships she formed.
Rox Ann was born August 20, 1954 in Willard, Ohio to the late Ralph J. Claus Sr. and Maxine R. (Gillett) Claus Young and spent several years working at Fairway Workshop. Rox Ann was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and always looked forward to receiving communion.
Rox Ann was happiest around people and never shied away from conversation with others. She will especially be remembered as a greeter to fellow Heartland residents, employees, and visitors. Over the years, she kept busy coloring, watching cartoons and loved listening to music, which got her in the mood to sing and dance along. Her favorite song was, You Are My Sunshine, and Rox Ann was a ray of sunshine to all who knew her. She enjoyed meals at Red Lobster, McDonald’s and Burger King and Rox Ann was always up for a nonalcoholic Shirley Temple which made her giggle and laugh. She loved having her fingernails painted and enjoyed playing BINGO and other card games with family and friends.
Rox Ann is survived by brothers, Bob Claus of Shelby, Richard Claus of Centerburg, Fred (Donna) Claus of Galion and Tom (Jackie) Claus of North Robinson; sisters-in-law, Brenda Claus and Peggy Claus; stepsiblings, Jim (Sisco) Young, Bob (Janice) Young, Larry (Diane) Young and Gloria (Carl) Angel. Rox Ann is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members including Beth (Ryan) Bloomfield whom she was extremely close with.
In addition to her mom and dad, Rox Ann was preceded in death by her stepdad, Bud Young; brothers, Ralph Claus Jr. and Gene Claus and stepsiblings, Ernie Young, John Young, Mary Ward, Pat Fogus, Alvie Wellman and Barb Spurlock.
Her family will receive friends from 12-1 pm Tuesday, January 3 at Wise Funeral Service, where her funeral will follow at 1:00 pm with Fr. Paul Fahrbach officiating. She will be laid to rest in Iberia Cemetery.
Donations can be made payable to Gentiva Hospice and will be accepted through the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy can be shared on her tribute wall.
