Ronnie L. Daniel, 77 of Galion, died on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Galion Meadows following an extended illness.
Ron was born on March 26, 1949 in Maysville, Kentucky to the late Richard “Buss” and Viola (Hayslip) Daniel. Their family moved to Galion in 1956, and he graduated from Galion High School in 1968. Ron was set up on a blind date with Ellen C. Tallman, and they married on June 9, 1984. She survives and has enjoyed their various adventures over the past 41 plus years.
Ron was no stranger to hard work and in addition to his years of working around their home, he spent 20 plus years baking goodies for customers of Tony’s Pastry Shop. During those years, he also cleaned Neff’s Grocery for several years. Ron lastly worked at Sam’s Club and Papa’s Gondola retiring only due to his declining health.
He was formerly active at Gospel Baptist Church and more recently attended Love Action Church when his health allowed.
Ron and Ellen enjoyed traveling, with his preference being historical sites. Some of their trips led them to the Alamo, Gettysburg, Niagara Falls, Las Vegas and Frankenmuth. He was big into watching sports and in addition to cheering on the Galion Tigers football team, Ron enjoyed rooting for the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Reds, Kentucky Wildcats and OSU Buckeyes.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen; and cousin, Jestina Jeffries. In addition to his parents, Richard and Viola, Ron was preceded in death by sisters, Patty Daniel and Michelle “Shelly” Lee Daniel.
Family will receive friends from 11 – 12:55 pm Thursday, June 25 at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, immediately followed by his funeral at 1:00 pm with Pastor Matt Smith officiating. Burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery.
If desired, donations may be made payable to Love Action Church and will be accepted through the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on his guestbook page at www.wisefuneral.com.
