Ron L. Pollock

Ron L. Pollock, 81, died Thursday, November 23, 2023 at Marion General Hospital after months of failing health.

He was born September 6, 1942 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Charles K. Pollock and Gladys (Mercer) Pollock Casto. Ron was raised in Gallia County, Ohio on a family dairy farm where hard work and persistence was instilled from an early age. Ron attended Southwestern High School and he met Anna L. Jeffers when they were in high school at a church youth event. They were married October 20, 1960 and moved to Bucyrus in 1963 when Ron began working at Swan Rubber from which he retired after 41 years.

Ron will be remembered for his big smile and laughter. He lived out his advice in the way he carried himself and by being a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great grandpa. Never one to sit around, Ron loved fishing, shooting sports, and always had a project to tinker on. He always made sure his family was doing ok and concerned if they needed anything. A man of faith, he and Anna were faithful members of the Bucyrus Nazarene Church.

Ron is survived by his bride of 63 years, Anna Pollock; grandchildren, Nick (Ebony) Pollock, Wes Pollock, Garrett (Lexi) Hensley, and Kaitlynn Pollock; great grandchildren, Addyson, Laekyn, and Walker; sister, Gloria (Oscar) Davies; daughter-in-law, Tina Bunch; son-in-law, Mike Hensley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry & Connie Lilly, Nolan & Wanda Thornton, Steve & Phyllis Miller and Phil & Donna Jeffers; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Rick L. Pollock; daughter, Dianna L. Hensley; mom and stepfather, Gladys and Rev. Pearl Austin Casto; and brother, Michael Pollock.

Anna and family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 28 from 3-6 pm at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus and on Wednesday, November 29 from 10-10:55 am at Bucyrus Nazarene Church where the funeral will begin at 11:00 am with Pastor Ray LaSalle officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Since Ron adored his family, donations are encouraged to be made payable to Anna Pollock for an education fund to be established for their great grandchildren. These gifts can be given through the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared in the guestbook.
