Robert Lee Pargeon Sr.

Robert Lee Pargeon Sr., 76, of Bucyrus, died Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at his home following an extended decline in health.

Bob was born January 8, 1947 in Bucyrus to the late Lee and Pauline Elizabeth (Siefert) Pargeon and was a 1965 graduate of Col. Crawford High School. In May of 1966, he was drafted into the US Army and stationed in Alaska. Following his honorable discharge in May of 1968, he returned home and a few years later, married Marilyn R. Disbennett on September 12, 1971, who survives.

Bob was employed as a machine operator at Timken, working just shy of 35 years and retired in December of 2003. He was a mechanically gifted individual, who enjoyed wrenching on cars and tractors as well as welding and fabricating several unique, but useful creations over his lifetime. Bob was often found tinkering with things in his garage and spent many hours tending to their small acreage and garden which produced much of what they ate. He was not afraid of hard work, and for several years, cut his share of firewood that heated their home.

He was always up for a car show and for down time, Bob could be found in front of his TV watching, Ice Road Truckers and Ax Men.

In addition to wife, Marilyn, Bob is survived by two children, R. Lee Pargeon Jr., and Laurie E. Pargeon; granddaughter, Megan (Chandler Brewer) Pargeon and a sister, Patricia (Terry Rehm) Payne.

He will be laid to rest privately in Oakwood Cemetery with Pastor Bill Wert officiating and military rites provided by the US Army Honor Guard and Bucyrus Veterans Military Funeral Detail.

Bob planted many trees on and around their property, therefore, and if desired, it would be fitting to plant a tree in his memory or a donation could be given to a charity of the donor’s choice. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on his tribute wall.
