Robert B. Eckert

Robert B. Eckert, 72, of Nevada, passed away November 20, 2021 unexpectedly at home.



Robert was born October 12, 1949 in Crestline, Ohio to the late Charles William and Shirley (Lacey) Eckert. Bob graduated from Colonel Crawford High School in 1968. He attended and graduated from North Central Technical College with his Associates Degree in Retail Management in 1970. On July 11, 1970, he married Jacquelyn Eberly in Shelby, Ohio and enlisted in the National Guard.



Robert started his career at Dayco Swan in the shipping department and retired as the Operations Manager in 1999. During his career at Dayco Swan, he obtained his Bachelors Degree and earned his Masters in Business Administration from Ashland University. After retiring from Dayco Swan he started Eckert Construction, and later taught as an Adjunct faculty member in the Masters program at Ashland University.



Robert was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky. He loved his family and enjoyed any chance he could get spending time with them. Every summer the family vacationed together at the family cottage in Michigan. Robert loved baseball and coached Little League and Senior League teams. He was a fan of the Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Robert never met a stranger, everywhere he went he would always be seen chatting with someone he knew. Robert enjoyed woodworking, gardening, singing and listening to music, and was an avid reader.



In addition to his wife of 51 years, Robert is survived by his sons, Adam and Andy (Jennifer) Eckert; grandchildren, Ashley Clifford, Austin (Lexie) Eckert, Jessica (Chris) Wykoff, Ethan (Cherish) Eckert, Alyssa Eckert, Lexi Eckert, and one great-grandchild on the way; aunts Gloria Gall and Linda Bosko; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Hunt; brother, Gregory Eckert; and his parents.



The Eckert’s will receive friends on Friday, November 26 from 10am- 12pm at Wise Funeral Service with his service to follow at 12pm with Pastor Jay Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made payable to Emanuel United Church of Christ of Upper Sandusky and can be sent to the funeral home at 129 W.
