Allen "Ray" Locker, Sr.



Ray Locker, 76, of Bucyrus, died Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at his home where he was surrounded by family.



He was born January 8, 1940 in Lewis County, Kentucky to the late Steele Locker and Zulia Zornes. At a young age, Ray made his way to Bucyrus and on June 12, 1962 he married Joyce Amons who survives.



Ray was a hard-working man who believed in providing for his family and did so as an iron worker earlier in life and also owned and operated Locker Drywall for 40 years before his health forced him to slow down. He enjoyed any time spent with family and liked to mow his lawn as well as work in his vegetable garden and play poker with friends when the opportunity arose.



In addition to Joyce, his wife of 54 years, Ray is survived by four children, Vickey (Mark) Stump, Joseph (Terrie) Locker, Allen Ray Locker, Jr., and Anthony (Sara) Locker; 12 grandchildren, Brittany, Joseph, Matthew, Zachary, Morgan, Logan, Ronni, and Bryce Locker, Jennifer (James) Berry, Allison Stump, Emily Stump, and Braiden Cross; and two great grandchildren, Bryant and Hudson Berry. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and cousins, including two special cousins, Greg and Vern “Rosco” Zornes.



He was preceded in death by six siblings, Randolf “Junior”, John, and Everett “Pete” Gulley, Verna Coomer, Pauline Gilliam, and Violet Hicks.



Friends are invited to gather with family for light meal and a time of reflection from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 20th at their home, 115 Emerson St. in Bucyrus.



Ray was a liver transplant recipient many years back and his family encourages monetary gifts to be given to Lifeline of Ohio through Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, who assisted with his cremation or to become a registered donor so that the gift of life can be shared with others in need. Memories can be shared on his Tribute Wall.
