Randy Patton

Randy Patton, 63, of Dunkirk, died Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Bridge Hospice Care Center.

He was born March 3, 1960, in Bucyrus to the late John Wilbert and Katherine Grace (Scheerer) Patton.  On November 3, 2001, he married Rita (VanScoy) Lawrence, and she survives in Dunkirk.

Family was very important to Randy, and he had a gentle heart.  He was always willing to help anyone.  Randy was also an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and enjoyed driving his John Deere tractor. He was employed by Hunter Defense Technologies as a Quality Manager.

Randy was proud to serve as pastor of Patterson Methodist Church for 11 years.  He frequently referred to himself as the prodigal son that returned home.  He identified with Paul in the Bible and referred to Paul’s writings for guidance in his own life.

Surviving Randy are wife, Rita; stepdaughters, Jessica (Tim) Wilkins, Amber Lawrence, Sarah (Tommy Cole) Lawrence; grandchildren, Ethan, Kale, Temperance, Grayson, and Zachary Charles; sisters, Kathryn (Mark) Frank, Candy Christian, Nancy (Dan) Clutter; and his beloved pet Beavis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Larry Patton, Lonnie Patton, and Terry Patton; sister, Judy Sample; and granddaughter, Sophia Jade Wilkins.

There will be a graveside service on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 12:00 noon at Dunkirk Cemetery, Dunkirk, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable to Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St, Bucyrus, OH, to help family with expenses.  Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on Randy’s guestbook.
