Phillip C. Weyandt II

Phillip C. Weyandt II, 47, died early Saturday, September 26, 2026 in the Bucyrus Hospital ER after a brief battle with cancer.

Phil was born on May 29, 1979 in Oregon, Ohio to Rebecca K. (Smith) Brubaker and the late Phillip C. Weyandt I. After growing up in Genoa, Phil moved with his mom to Napoleon, Ohio and graduated from Napoleon High School in 1997. He then joined the US Navy and served for four years. After his discharge in December 2001, Phil returned to northwest Ohio and eventually met Tara Gearhart of Montpelier. They were married August 8, 2014 and later moved to Bucyrus.

Tara appreciated Phil for being a good husband and caring for the people who loved him. At home, he enjoyed playing Xbox games like Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed. He was fascinated with wolves, read Dean Koontz novels, and rooted for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Michigan Wolverines.

Phil is survived by wife, Tara Weyandt; mother, Rebecca Brubaker; son, Daniel Mysinger; daughter, Calista (Owen) Barnett; grandson, Richard; siblings, Cody Weyandt, Joshua (Amber) Weyandt, Megan Weyandt, and Madelon (Scott) Mittendorf; along with nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his father, Phillip Weyandt, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Jean Smith.

A celebration of Phil’s life will be held on a later date. Those wishing to remember Phil with a memorial contribution are encouraged to make them payable to Wounded Warrior Project and will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus.
