Paul Franklin Brinkman

Paul Franklin Brinkman, 100, of Bucyrus died Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Bucyrus Community Hospital.

He was born November 7, 1916 in Holmes Twp., the only child of the late Charles Franklin and Bessie C. (Brehman) Brinkman. He and his family lived in Bucyrus for most of his childhood before settling on the family farm worked by generations of Brinkmans. He attended Bucyrus Schools through 10th grade, then graduated from Holmes Liberty in 1935. He married the former Norma Elizabeth Riggle on April 26, 1957 and she preceded him in death December 8, 2008.

Franklin was a full time farmer who helped friends and neighbors with anything from clearing stumps to tiling to harvesting. His advanced age and youthful appearance were a testament to healthy living and eating as Frank often stated, “The whiter the bread, the sooner you’re dead.” He raised bountiful gardens and had a number of fruit trees on the farm. He and Norma wintered in Mission, Texas for several years and he enjoyed just riding the streets and roads of Bucyrus and Crawford County reminiscing of times gone by. He was also proud to be the oldest attending the Brinkman Reunion held in Napoleon this past summer. Franklin was a devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Frank is survived by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Riggle of Upper Sandusky and his beloved neighbors. In addition to his parents and wife of 51 years, he was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Edith Yoders and brother in law, Lloyd Riggle.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 25 at 11:00 am at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus with David Dunn speaking. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10-11. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Contributions can be made to Worldwide Work of Jehovah’s Witnesses through the funeral home and memories can be shared on Franklin’s Tribute Wall.
