Myron D. Campbell

Myron Dwight Campbell, 90, died peacefully Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Altercare of Bucyrus where he was being cared for since the death of his wife in December.

He was born June 2, 1932 in Bucyrus to the late Wayne and Carrie (Bauer) Campbell and raised in the home he would grow to love and tend to his entire life. He was a 1950 graduate of Holmes-Liberty High School and enjoyed their alumni banquets. As a child, he looked over the adjacent farmland and told his mother he was going to buy it and take good care of her. Myron did just that. He also worked for 30 years at The Timken Company in maintenance. The skills he learned taking care of the machinery came in handy as he cared for equipment as a bi-vocational farmer. While Myron worked hard, his wife Betty (Brinkman), whom he married June 1, 1957, kept the home fires burning and looked after their three sons. She preceded him in death on March 26, 2002. Myron then met Rhonda (Mulready) Mann at a bereavement group, and they were married August 30, 2003. She preceded him in death on December 29, 2022.

Myron lived to worship God and farm the land he was blessed to care for. Other than his service in the US Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean Conflict, Myron always lived within three miles of his farm. In 1994, Myron saw Alpacas at the Ashland fair and became intrigued, especially since he dearly missed the routine of livestock 4-H projects after his sons graduated. His first alpaca purchase grew to become Grass Run Alpaca Farm. Myron was instrumental in alpacas being shown at the Crawford and Richland County fairs and he loved the education that came from helping kids with projects and the tours that came through the farm. He was also a founding member of the Mid-Ohio Alpaca Association.

Outside of farming and raising livestock, Myron was a loyal fan of Ohio State and the Cleveland Indians and Browns. He was also a lifelong and faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bucyrus. He enjoyed Sunday School and was on the church’s original dartball team, even helping build its dartball board. A yearly family vacation took them to various US destinations and he and Rhonda enjoyed a Hawaiian cruise.

Myron is survived by children, Allan (Rose Ann) Campbell, Gary (Linnea) Campbell, and Todd Campbell; stepchildren, Scot (Leslie) Mann, Heidi (Geoff) Durian, and Julie (James) Hendrix; grandchildren, Wayne (Heather) Campbell, Laura (Daniel) Hadidon, Tiffany (Daniel) Schmidt, Ethan Campbell, Mitchell Campbell, and Peter Campbell; step grandchildren, Chloe and Chelsea Mann, Garrett, Jerred and Mallorie Durian, and Rilee and Bailey Hendrix; great grandson, Noah Hadidon; brother, Lloyd (Barbara) Campbell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles (Margaret) Brinkman, Karen (Dave) Samsel, and Pat Brinkman; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to his wives and parents; Myron was preceded in death by sister, Neva Lucille Cardon; brother, Elden Campbell; grandsons, Chadwich and Christopher Campbell; sister-in-law, Janet Brinkman; and brothers-in-law, Donald Brinkman and Sam Cardon.

All services will take place at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 28 from 4-7 pm. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am with Pastor Don Neumann officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with military honors by the US Army Honor Guard.

Memorial donations are encouraged to be made payable to Holmes Township VFD or Mid-Ohio Alpaca Association and given through the funeral home. The funeral service can be viewed live and memories and photos can be shared on Myron’s tribute wall.
