Mike Warren, 61, of Bucyrus, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Unger Park Post Acute. He had been in failing health for the past couple years.
He was born September 29, 1964 in St. Louis, Missouri to Raymond E. and Susan P. (Sherfy) Warren. Mike graduated from Granite City Senior High School South and shortly thereafter enlisted in the US Navy. His service time was brief due to a sight issue and Mike returned to Granite City, IL for a brief period before moving to Bucyrus to be closer to his mom. While in Bucyrus, he met Becky Freeman and the two hit it off immediately. They never married but shared many years of loving companionship.
Mike certainly wasn’t afraid of hard work and spent about 20 years working at Swan Rubber before the plant closed. He then moved back to Granite City, where he worked for Apex Oil for 17 years before returning to Bucyrus and concluded his work career at Poly Tech.
In addition to loving his mother and companion, Becky, Mike shared an equal love for riding Harly Davidson motorcycles. Over the years, he covered many miles on his HD Sportster, HD Heritage Softail and most recently, “King Louie”, his HD Road King. Throughout his years of riding, Mike enjoyed travels to Sturgis, many annual trips to Wetzel’s big bike get-together, Toy Drives where he’d strap a big stuffed animal to the bike, riding to various cities all while raising money for children’s charities and anywhere else he desired. He and Becky did a lot of camping while riding and saw some beautiful sites along the way. Mike also did some hunting and fishing and was always up for a meal at Red Lobster.
In addition to his mom, Susan of Granite City, and the love of his life, Becky Freeman of Bucyrus, Mike is survived by sisters, Terri Brown of Granite City and Susan (Ronnie) Williams of Cape Coral, Florida; Becky’s two children, Joshua Freeman and his child, Zack and Sara Freeman (Tyler Lewis) and their child, Payton Lewis. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews as well as his best friend, Rusty Dewiel. Mike was preceded in death by his dad, Raymond.
His family will celebrate his life privately, but if so desired, donations can be made payable to an organization of the donor’s choice, and these gifts will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service. Memories are encouraged to be shared on his guestbook page at www.wisefuneral.com.
