Marilyn 'Tootie' Vanscoit, 71, formerly of Bucyrus and Marion passed away peacefully on April 17, 2024, at Signature Healthcare in Galion, Ohio.

She was born on October 1, 1952 to Rex and Mary (Grounds) Martin in Marion Ohio. She attended school locally and graduated from Marion Harding High. Marilyn lived a life filled with love, compassion, and devotion to her family. Her sense of humor was unmatched.

Marilyn is survived by her loving brothers, Gary (Faye) and Den Martin, who cherished her dearly. She is also survived by her children Jon, Jared (Khristin), Adam, and Jeremiah (Sarah) Slagle, who were the light of her life. She also is survived by her grandchildren Kaegen, Avri, Gabrielle, Addison, Brody, Madyson, Lillyn and Oaklynn. Marilyn's family meant everything to her, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Rex and Mary Martin, her daughter Sherry Thomas, Her siblings Judy (Martin) Winslow, and Rex 'Ray' Martin as well as longtime partner Robert Geckler.

Throughout her life, Marilyn touched the hearts of everyone she met with her warm smile, gentle spirit, and selfless nature. She would short herself if it meant helping a family member to get through a tough spot. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, cats, and cooking. Her homemade biscuits and cherry delight dessert were just a couple of her family favorites. She enjoyed various genres of music but shared a love for Kings Of Leon with her daughter Sherry. She enjoyed watching westerns and horror movies. She loved having fun with friends and socialized at Pete’s Café, The Hitching Post, and the Crazy Fox.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Her family plans to privately celebrate her life and encourages others to offer up a toast when reflecting on time spent with Tootie. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her guestbook page.
