Margaret J. Walcutt

Margaret J. Walcutt, 95, died Thursday, July 24, 2025 at Altercare of Bucyrus where she had resided for nearly four years.

She was born July 16, 1930 in Oceola to the late Robert J. and Carol G. (Beach) Frost. Margaret grew up in rural Crawford County and graduated in 1948 from Holmes-Liberty where she was a cheerleader for the Pirates. Later that year, Margaret married Kermit C. Walcutt who preceded her in death in 2013.

Margaret will be remembered for her kindness, care, and helping nature. She spent a short time working at the former El Sombrero Restaurant and Timken, then enjoyed raising her family as a homemaker. She was a gifted cook with memorable meals and cherished recipes handed down to her family. Margaret helped Helen King with catering events and making their famous soft pretzels. She was a member of Bucyrus United Methodist Church and active in the former Grace UMC where she was a Sunday School teacher and helped with banquets and meals. Socially, she spent a number of years bowling in various leagues at Suburban Lanes and she and Kermit enjoyed gathering with friends to play cards. She took her grandchildren to ball games, planted beautiful flowers at home, and she and Kermit enjoyed frequent visits to Carolyn’s Diner.

Margaret is survived by three daughters, Sheri Schiefer of Bucyrus, Charlene (Ed) Rowland of New Washington, and Wendy Grimmer of North Carolina; grandchildren, Troy Moritz, Dawn Moritz (Brad Donahue), Eric Schiefer, Jeremy (Tonya) Schiefer, Nick Rowland, and Quinn Rowland; great grandchildren, Misty (Travis) Winkleman, Brent Schiefer, Ayden Schiefer, Carson Schiefer, Boston Schiefer, Haley Schiefer, Zachary Moritz, Brandon Moritz, Evan Johnston, Aiden Johnston, Lyra Johnston, River Rowland, Avery Rowland, and Eva Beal; four great-great grandchildren, and her niece and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband of 64 years, Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Terry Walcutt; son-in-law, Don Grimmer; sister, Donna Markley Harbaugh; and brothers-in-law, Ralph Markley and Dick Harbaugh.

Friends and family are invited to gather in Brokensword Cemetery on Tuesday, August 5 where her graveside service will begin at 11:00 am with Pastor Matt Anderson officiating.

Memorial donations are encouraged to be given to the Alzheimer’s Association and given through Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Memories and photos can be shared on the guestbook of Margaret’s tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
