Lynn R. Shull

Lynn R. Shull, 73, died Sunday, February 26, 2017 surrounded by his family.

He was born May 25, 1943 in Shelby to the late Bruce and Edna (Crum) Shull and grew up on the family farm on Beck Road outside of Sulphur Springs, a property which his son is proud to live on and still farms to this day. Lynn was a 1961 graduate of Sulphur Springs High; the school’s last graduating class. This earned him membership into the “Front Row Crew,” a group of fellows he was proud to socialize with at Colonel Crawford basketball games and call friends. In 1963, Lynn married his high school sweetheart, Lynette Gerhart, and they’ve lived as “two peas in a pod,” sharing nearly 54 years of marriage.

Lynn served in the Navy as a Seabee from 1966-68, including an 18-month tour in Yokosuka, Japan where he lived with his wife. In addition to farming with his family, Lynn worked at North Electric in Galion, AEP for 37 years retiring as an area supervisor and also drove truck for UAP and CPA. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge 669, and American Legion Post 181. Lynn enjoyed providing for his family by working hard and his heart was always present in anything his children and grandchildren were involved.

In addition to his wife, Lynette, he is survived by one son Christopher (Jenny) Shull and their two children, Bruce and Megan Shull; one daughter, Danielle (Jon) Crall and their four sons, Eli, Ty, Ben and Abe Crall; four siblings, Karen (Bill) Bartley, Carole (Jim) Gerhart, Ellen Stephenson and Lyle (Deb) Shull as well as many nieces and nephews.

All services will take place, Saturday, March 4 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 130 S. Walnut St. Bucyrus. Visitation will be held from 9:30–12 Noon immediately followed by a lunch gathering for those able to join the family. Lynn’s funeral will begin at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Mike Greenler officiating and burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Tiro where full Military Rites will be provided by the American Legion Post 181 and US Navy Honor Guards.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made payable to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Col. Crawford Athletic Boosters and these gifts will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service or the day of his services at the church. Memories are encouraged to be shared on his Tribute Wall.
