Lora L. Cox

Lora L. Cox, 60, of Bucyrus, died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 11, 2024 of an apparent embolism.

She was born October 30, 1963 in Bucyrus to the late Earnest M. “Bud” and Betty M. (Denton) Snavely and was a 1982 graduate of Bucyrus High School. She caught the eye of Mike Cox during their sophomore year and on November 5, 1983, they married and have had much fun sharing a life together. Lora began working at Fairway school as a preschool aide for a brief period before hiring in at Bucyrus Schools, where she served as a classroom and library aide as well as the school EMIS Coordinator. For the past decade, Lora has worked at META Solutions and was currently a PowerSchool PowerScheduler Specialist.

Lora will be remembered as a very caring and well-organized individual. She loved time spent with family, especially her grandchildren where she often had something fun planned for their time together. One of her favorite family traditions was gathering at Christmas time and making popcorn balls. A tradition that’s brought much laughter for many, many years. She also baked some incredible Christmas cookies and cakes.

Lora loved watching sports. From following her Bucyrus Redmen, where she had been active with the Bucyrus Touchdown Club to cheering on her Buckeyes and Indians. Her enthusiasm and vocals stood out amongst the crowd. Their family shared many good times at New Smyrna Beach in Florida and in more recent years, she and Mike took in some good concerts. But of all the things she did, “lake life” was her favorite. She felt most relaxed at their camper at Rock Pointe in Port Clinton, where she liked laughing with family and friends, and if you didn’t know Lora, she had a wonderful laugh. One which brought on smiles.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #181 and will live on in others as an organ and tissue donor.

Lora will be deeply missed by her husband Mike; sons, Mitch (Natasha) Cox, Kyle Cox and Britt (Kim) Cox; grandchildren, Alisa, Joslyn, Finlee and Cooper and expected, Avery; sisters, Sharon (Bob) Hamm and Theresa (Doug) Yaussy; mother-in-law, Billie Cox; brother-in-law, Bob (Renae) Cox; sisters-in-law, Tina Riley and Cindy (Dave) Sabo as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Robert Cox.

A memorial service will begin at 10:00 am Thursday, August 15 at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren Street, Bucyrus, Ohio with Pastor Dan Rebon officiating, and visitation will follow, from 11 – 1 pm that day. Her family specifically requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to either the Bucyrus Touchdown Club or Bucyrus Academic Boosters. These gifts will be accepted through the funeral home and expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her guestbook page at www.wisefuneral.com.
