Lloyd Eugene Burgin, 89, of Bucyrus, was surrounded by family as he passed peacefully on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Altercare of Bucyrus.
Lloyd was born at home in Leesville on May 2, 1934 to the late Lester Leroy and Lula Pearl (Rader) Burgin. He attended school in Crestline and North Robinson before graduating from Leesville High School in 1952. On October 20, 1963, he married Norma Jean Williams, who survives.
Lloyd worked at Crestline Equity, Pennsylvania Railroad, Concrete Products and retired from ODOT in 1992. He spent many years driving cars back from auctions for Jim Hicks and he and Norma operated a small farm for many years which helped keep him busy. They raised hogs as well as tended to their 35 acres of soybeans and corn.
Lloyd was a member of St. John’s UCC, where he was active in dartball. He was also a member of the Crawford Antique Farm Machinery Association and the Bucyrus Historical Society. He loved attending auctions and flea markets and always kept an eye out for older farm machinery or lawn mowers. He and Norma shared many travels, including trips to Florida, Shipshewana, Branson, Smokey Mountains and had an enjoyable 13 day drive out west. Lloyd was always up for a good meal and never turned down sweet treats. He enjoyed watching both the Reds and Guardians and in more recent years could be found relaxing in his recliner.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Norma; daughter, Sharon (Charles) Caldwell; grandsons, Dustin (Celina Bishop) Caldwell and Jarrod Caldwell; sister-in-law, Nancy (Bob) McConeghy as well as extended family and friends.
Friends are invited to join Lloyd’s family at his graveside in Sandusky Cemetery, 4538 Biddle Road, Tiro, Ohio, on Wednesday, October 11, where his funeral will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Brad McKibben officiating.
If desired, donations can be made payable to the Crawford Antique Farm Machinery Association, Bucyrus Historical Society or to SouthernCare Hospice. These gifts will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service or at the cemetery on the day of service. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on his guestbook.
