Linn Waring

Linn Waring, 76, passed away early Monday, March 4, 2024 at his home under the care of Avita Hospice.

Linn was born on January 13, 1948 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Joseph and LeMonne (Phillips) Waring. He was raised on a farm near Garrison, Kentucky and graduated from the Lewis County High School. After completing school, he proudly served in the US Army from 1968-1969. He then made his way to Crawford County in hopes of finding employment. He began working at the GE Lamp Plant in Bucyrus where he retired after over 30 years. Not only did GE fulfill his employment hopes, that is where he met his late wife, Phyllis Shade Sack. After over 20 years of courtship, they were finally married in April 2001. Phyllis preceded him in death on August 19, 2008.

Linn will be remembered for his quiet nature. Although he was very reserved, he wasn't shy of telling folks where he stood on certain issues. Linn had a love for cars and trucks, old and new. He never kept a vehicle for more than a couple of years and was constantly looking for “a deal!” He was always up for an adventure. He enjoyed trips to Tennessee, Amish Country, and going out to eat with his family. He enjoyed being “GaGa” to his grandchildren. Linn also looked forward to casino trips and playing bingo in recent years. He was proud to have served his country and greatly enjoyed the company of fellow veterans and special friends of the American Legion Post 181 and AmVets Post 27.

Linn is survived by daughters, Tori Weinstock, Monica Sack, Melissa (Justin) Bauer and Mandy Sack (Jeff Howard); grandchildren, Atley, Grady, Paxen, Paisley and Bexlee; brother, Joseph Waring; and extended family. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by daughter, Angi Linn Waring and sister-in-law, Yvonne Waring.

Services will be held at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Family will receive friends Thursday evening, March 7, from 5-8 pm. The funeral will be held on Friday at 10:30 am with Life Celebrant, Lisa Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in Brokensword Cemetery with military honors by the US Army Honor Guard and Bucyrus Veterans Military Funeral Detail.

Donations in Linn's memory can be made payable to the Humane Society Serving Crawford County or a charity of the donor's choice and given through the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on the guestbook.
