LeRoy Albin Fritz, 85, formerly of Bucyrus, passed peacefully on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at his daughter’s home in Prattville, Alabama where he was being cared for during the past three years.
He was born February 16, 1940 in Bucyrus to the late Philip C. and Loretta A. (Hahler) Fritz and graduated from Bucyrus High School. On November 27, 1981, LeRoy married Laura May Moll and she preceded him in death on March 19, 2010. He spent 35 plus years working at Swan Rubber before his retirement and was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where he enjoyed serving meals in the soup kitchen.
LeRoy loved camping and both he and Laura formed many friendships through the Starcraft Camping Club. They camped at many sites throughout Ohio and looked forward to gathering with fellow nationwide Starcraft members for an annual summer camp. LeRoy liked working in the yard and spent many hours tending to his garden, where he grew all sorts of vegetables. He was a crafty individual who enjoyed woodworking and put his talents to good use by making lawn figurines which became gifts for family and friends as well as decorated his own yard during the holidays. LeRoy enjoyed watching old westerns and no matter what he was doing, he was also most likely enjoying a cold Pepsi; his favorite drink.
LeRoy is survived children, Larry Fritz of Springfield, Ohio, Cheryl (Ken) Levins and Lee Fritz of Prattville; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brothers, Deacon Julius Fritz, Melvin Fritz and Yvonne (Mike) Brown. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Fritz.
Family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus on Thursday, May 22 from 4-7 pm and a vigil service will conclude the evening at 7pm. The Funeral Mass will be on Friday, May 23 at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Fahrbach officiating. LeRoy will be entombed privately in the Crawford County Memory Gardens mausoleum.
If desired, donations can be made payable to the Alzheimer’s Association and these gifts will be accepted through the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on his guestbook page at www.wisefuneral.com.
