Larry Eugene Fetty, 78, of Bucyrus, passed away peacefully at home while holding hands with his wife, Sandy on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
Larry was born in Mason, West Virginia on November 1, 1947 to the late Richard L. and Glenna Mae (Cremeans) Fetty. He was a 1966 graduate of Rutland High School and went on to earn his associate’s degree in accounting from Mountain State College. While attending Mountain State, he met Sandra J. Foley and they married on August 2, 1968. Sandy survives and has cherished the many wonderful memories created throughout their 58 years of marriage.
Larry spent 25 years working at Timken before hiring in with Hemphill Brothers Coach Company and drove for some notable individuals while driving. Not seeing his wife as much as he would have liked, he left and began driving semi-truck. This career allowed them to drive the open road together and blessed them with some amazing sights while traveling through practically every state in the continental United States.
Larry strongly believed that “once saved, always saved”, and no matter where life took them, they always found an area Baptist church to worship. As health declined, they became spiritually fed through watching John Hagge Ministries and The Winning Walk with Ed Young.
Larry was a strong, manly individual who took great pride in caring for those he loved. To say that he enjoyed weightlifting was an understatement, as no matter what time of day, he always found time to squeeze in another set of lifts. He practiced taekwondo for a period of time and was proud to have earned a black belt for his efforts. Larry took pride in tending to his yard and had a passion for classic automobiles, owning some unique ones throughout his life. He was an excellent dancer who was never shy about putting on a show and even earned the title of “the rocker” by some of his grandchildren and their friends.
In addition to wife, Sandy, Larry is survived by children, Kurtiss Fetty, Angela (Michael) Greenwood and Daniel (Jennifer) Fetty; grandchildren, Tyler Fetty, Chelsea Fetty, Katie (Tyler) Wilson, Maddie Schoolcraft and Jacob Fetty; great grandchildren, Rowan Wilson and Lukas Garcia; siblings, Richard (Beverly) Fetty Jr., and Sheila (Robin) Chandler as well as some close friends.
Larry’s family will receive friends from 11:30 am - 12:55 pm on Friday, October 9 at Wise Funeral Service, where his funeral will immediately follow beginning at 1:00 pm with Chaplain Doug Olson officiating. He will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.
If desired, donations may be made payable to either Hagge Ministries, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or a charity of the donor’s choice. These gifts will be accepted through the funeral home and online expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared at www.wisefuneral.com.
