Kevin L. Charlton

Kevin Lee Charlton, 52, of Bucyrus, died Wednesday, July 20, 2022 in the ER at Bucyrus Community Hospital. His death was unexpected yet of natural causes.

He was born February 23, 1970 in Lima, son of the late Ronald E. Charlton who preceded him in death in 2005 and Mary Jane (Thomas) Charlton who resides in Bucyrus. Kevin was a 1989 graduate of Bucyrus High School and later completed the welding program at Pioneer. He worked for a period at Eagle Crusher and spent many years at Whirlpool. Kevin was also proud to have worked at Fairway Waycraft and served as a positive influence for others.

Kevin liked anytime spent with family and would do anything in his power to make their lives easier. He was always looking out for his mother by caring for her lawn, doing her grocery shopping, and helped with her dog. He was a mentor to his children and his grandbabies were his world. They created many memories while fishing, simply hanging out and he hand crafted some of the coolest bicycles. Kevin’s second love was that of time spent with an automobile and Ford Mustangs were his favorite. He was the family mechanic, spent many hours tweaking things under the hood, and enjoyed body work. In the past, he loved racing cars at LaRue or Norwalk and enjoyed his days of participating in demolition derbies. Kevin’s favorite hangout was his garage, where he spent many hours tinkering with things and completing many projects for family and friends.

Kevin was proud to have been saved at a revival in Galion earlier this month and enjoyed worshipping at Hope on the Hill Chapel Ministries in Leesville. He is now eternally thankful for his friendship with Jen Jarvis, who inspired this relationship with God.

This generous man with a big heart will be missed by his mom, Mary; children, Kody Charlton and Kasey (Tyler) Charlton; grandbabies, Korben Lee Charlton, Karson Robert Charlton, Karter James Jones and Charlotte Spencer Hall; sister, Kimberly (Brian) Rinehart; niece and nephews, Brooke (Tommy) Cox, Josh (Laura) Rinehart, Derek P. Hosler and Dylan J. McLaughlin; brother-in-law, James Patrick (Michelle) McLaughlin as well as his dog, Daisy Duke who went everywhere with Kevin.

In addition to his dad, Ron, Kevin was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gladys Wilson; aunt, Daisy Harmon; cousins, Connie Horning and Tommy Harmon and his sister-in-law, Beverly A. McLaughlin.

His family will visit with friends from 3 – 4:55 pm Friday, July 29 at Wise Funeral Service, where his memorial service will be held that evening at 5:00 pm with Pastor Mike Rose officiating. Inurnment will follow in Iberia Cemetery.

His family request that in lieu of flowers any financial support would be appreciated and money can go to the funeral home to offset expenses. Memories are encouraged to be shared on his tribute page.
