Kenneth Phillip “Kenny” Feik passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Mill Creek Nursing & Rehab, Galion.

Kenny was born on October 19, 1933, at home in Tiro to the late George Feik and Elsie (Neff) Feik. Kenny was a 1951 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School. Soon after, he was drafted and served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1957. Kenny married Evelyn Marie (Johnson) Feik, who survives, on June 3, 1962 and they lived on his family’s farm enjoying 62 years together.

Kenny worked as a farmer all his life and during his youth had many different jobs on the side keeping him busy in the wintertime. He would drive a milk truck, worked for the Sulphur Springs Ford Garage and AJ Halliwill John Deere store, and built and welded farm equipment. Throughout his years he dug graves in multiple area cemeteries.

Kenny was involved in many organizations such as the American Legion Post 181, the American Farm Bureau, as well as the Moose Lodge 669. He loved to sing and was a charter member of the Country Gentleman as well as being involved in the choir at First UCC in Galion where he was also a longtime member of their dartball team. Kenny enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting and musical events as well as attending and watching his favorite OSTPA driver, Jerry Martin, and his tractor. Kenny was always one to have a conversation and would talk to you for hours about the history of Sulphur Springs and his adventures in life.

Kenny was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Catherine and Melvin James, his in-laws Harley “Jake” and Mildred Johnson, and brother-in-law Edward Matthews. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law Phillip and Michelle (Schank) Feik, grandchildren Lydia Feik and fiancé Philip Sherman, Corin, Julia, and Kevin Feik, sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and Eldon Pfleiderer of Galion, sister-in-law Joyce Matthews of Columbus, nieces and nephews Marvin (Kara) James, Michael James, Katie (Henry) Cunningham, and John (Tawnee) Matthews, along with special cousins Jim and Beverly Martin of Bucyrus. He will also be missed by his neighbors.

Kenny’s family will receive friends on Friday, April 12 from 3-7 pm at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. The funeral will be on Saturday, April 13 at 10:30 am at First UCC, 248 Harding Way West in Galion, with Pastor Chris Buckingham-Tayler officiating. A private burial with military rites by the US Army Honor Guard and Bucyrus Veterans Military Funeral Detail will be held in Union Cemetery, Sulphur Springs.

Rather than sending flowers, memorial donations are encouraged to be made payable to First UCC Galion or Liberty Twp. VFD  and given through the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on the guestbook.

The Feik family would like to thank Galion Hospital’s med-surg department, Mill Creek staff, and the team at Gentiva Hospice for their care and support.
