Kathleen Esther Widman, 72, of Bucyrus, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026 of heart failure.
She was born on January 9, 1954 in Bucyrus to the late William Frederick and Patricia Ann (Evers) Widman. Kathy attended school through the 8th grade at Holy Trinity and was a 1972 graduate of Col. Crawford High School. She most recently worked at IB Tech until her health no longer allowed.
Kathy was a devout Roman Catholic and was a former 4th Order Franciscan. She was pure of heart and a wonderful human being who will be missed.
Kathy was a skilled scroll saw cutter and used her talents to cut many creative pieces which her sister, Judy then finished using her artistic touch. This led to 25 years of traveling to area festivals and craft shows, where they sold their hand-crafted creations and formed many friendships along the way. Kathy also found great enjoyment in weaving, and created rugs, placemats and other works of art which were sold at area shows. She was a former member of the Malabar Farms Weavers Guild. Music was an intricate part of her life and whether listening to classical or rock music, Kathy was happiest listening to something enjoyable. She also had a big heart towards animals and throughout her life loved caring for many cats and dogs as her children, who provided her with much comfort. She was always up for a good meal at an area restaurant as well trip to see new sites.
Kathy is survived by sisters, Jean Ann Mauler and Judith Elaine Widman; nephews, Joseph Mauler, Edward Mauler, and David Mauler; niece, Jennifer (Paul) Dekeizer; grand-nephew, Grayson Dekeizer; aunt, Jeannie (Charlie) Evers; and first cousins, Kathy Evers, Angie Evers, Amy Roston, Randy Lady and Lewis Lady.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her sister, Connie Widman and a brother-in-law, Dr. John Mauler Jr.
A memorial funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 14 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Fahrbach officiating. Inurnment will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
If desired, donations can be made payable to Homeless to Home (an animal rescue and cat sanctuary) and will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service or at the church on the morning of services. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her guestbook page at www.wisefuneral.com.
