Kathleen Allonas, 80, of Bucyrus, died on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus as result of recent breast cancer diagnosis.
Kathy was born on August 13, 1945, in Bucyrus to the late Richard W. and Virginia Mae (Sheaffer) Schifer. She was a 1963 graduate of Mt. Zion High School, earned her associate’s degree in business administration from Marion TC and was also a licensed cosmetologist/hairstylist and a real estate sales agent.
Kathy spent several years working as a hair stylist in both Toledo and Bucyrus. As children entered her life, she devoted her life to caring for their needs as a stay-at-home mom. They were her greatest accomplishments, and she was proud of their successes in life. As they grew, she began selling real estate and spent a few years with Sluss Realty in Bucyrus. Kathy was hired in at Allonas Communications Inc., the first low power TV service East of the Mississippi, where she began working sales. She completed her time with the Company as a general manager and will certainly be remembered for her role in the former Bargain Barn show. Kathy and husband, Bill, next took over Bill’s TV & Appliance and worked as a store manager until her retirement.
Kathy enjoyed time at Lake Erie where she, Bill and family enjoyed many weekends of boating and socializing with others at their place in the West Harbor Lagoons. She never missed a hair or nail appointment and was always up for some “retail therapy”. Often shopping for clothing, shoes and jewelry. Kathy certainly had a huge heart for animals and cherished the good memories created with her various dogs throughout her life.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 34 years, Bill Allonas; children, Christy (Joe) Ebel of Granville, Veronica (Shawn) Hildreth of Bucyrus, John (Leslie Smith) Howard and Jeff (Mandy Sack) Howard both of Monnett; stepdaughters, Tracy (Kevin) Pifher of Cincinnati and Kristy (Keith) Fullenkamp of Port Clinton; grandchildren, Joshua (Melissa) Ebel, Ashley (Hunter) Baker, Mackenzie Ebel, Joey Hildreth, Alexandria Howard, Briley Hildreth, Kaylie (James) Ort, Lily Howard, Everlie Howard, Grady Howard, Keileen Fullenkamp, Taylor Pifher and Courtney Pifher; great grandchildren, Joseph, Robert, Joshua, Eliza, Lucas, Sara, Ashtynn, Oliver and Aubrey; brother, Ronald R. (Leslie) Schifer of Marion as well as a niece, Susan Schifer of Columbus and a nephew, Robert (Beverly) Schifer of Dayton.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Drake Heckert.
All services for Kathy will take place on Monday, December 15 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Her family will receive friends from 12 – 12:55 pm, followed by her funeral beginning at 1:00 pm with Certified Celebrant Lisa Snyder officiating. She will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.
If desired, donations can be made payable to the Humane Society Serving Crawford County, and these gifts will be accepted through the funeral home. Memories and expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her guestbook page at www.wisefuneral.com.
