June M. Bower

June M. Bower, age 86, of rural Bucyrus, died Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Ontario Estates Assisted Living Facility where she had been a resident for the last several months. She had been dealing in recent years with the symptoms and effects of Alzheimer’s Disease.

June was born on August 30, 1939, in Bucyrus, Ohio to the late Archie L. and Dorothy L. (Snavely) Wingert. On June 19, 1960, she married Allen K. Bower who survives.

Also surviving are son, Ronald Bower, of rural Bucyrus; daughters, Janis (John) Meter, of Murray, Kentucky, and Susan (Joe) Curatti, of rural Crestline; grandchildren, Ashley Wise, Andrew Worden, Ben Meter, Bonnie Grosz, Joseph Meter, Donna Peppers, and Tami Meter; great grandchildren, Olivia Peppers and one expected; and a brother, David Wingert, of rural Bucyrus.

June graduated from Whetstone High School in 1957. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. June and Allen served in Christian Missionary service for 34 years while serving in Washington, DC; Indiana; and Texas. Allen and June retired in 2008 and returned to rural Bucyrus.

June was an active and longtime member of the Whetstone Baptist Church and served as Sunday School teacher; pianist; organist; treasurer; and assisted in many other activities of the Church.

At home June enjoyed cooking, gardening, and being with her cats.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Whetstone Cemetery, located in Whetstone Township of Crawford County, Ohio with her son-in-law, Joe Curatti officiating.
