Julie L. Corwin, 72, died Monday, April 6, 2026 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus where she was being treated after a fall.
She was born December 5, 1953 in Marion to the late Jack and Marilyn (Phelps) Walterhus. The Walterhus family moved to Crestline when Julie’s dad began working for GM. While at Crestline High School, Julie met Michael L. Corwin. They graduated in 1972 and were married on December 22, 1973.
Julie was proud to have been married to Mike for 49 years when he died May 24, 2023. She was also proud of her nursing career, serving for over 20 years in Galion and Bucyrus Hospitals. She had a passion for children, especially those less fortunate and loved the food pantry of Bucyrus United Methodist Church where Mike was the pastor. She was sure in her faith and sure of her eternity in Christ.
Julie is survived by children, Stacy Ricker and Aaron (Jill) Corwin; grandchildren, Makenzie Ricker (Colden Noble), Marcus Ricker (Morgan Wilhelm), Mason Ricker, Sydnee Corwin, and Connor Corwin; great granddaughters, Korwyn, Koralee, and Molly; and sister, Shelly (Steve) Frank. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son-in-law, Joe Ricker and brother, Robin Lee Walterhus.
Services for Julie Corwin will be held at Wise Funeral Service on Friday, April 17. Family will receive friends from 11 am – 12:55 pm. At 1:00 pm, a Nightingale Tribute Service by the Ohio Nurse Honor Guard Coalition will precede the funeral officiated by Pastor Matt Anderson. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made payable to Bucyrus UMC (for the Food Pantry) and given at the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on the guestbook of Julie’s tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
