Joyce E. Graham, 83, died early Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Altercare of Bucyrus where she had been a resident of the memory care unit for six years.
Born on Christmas Eve in 1941 to the late Lester and Dorothy (Rodey) Briegel, Joyce grew up on the family farm with her brother and graduated from Chatfield High School in 1960. She met Chuck Graham at J's Drink Shop in Chatfield, which Joyce owned and operated, and they were married June 30, 1979. Chuck preceded her in death on May 27, 2012.
Joyce will be remembered for her fun-loving nature, quick wit, and timely comebacks. Her voice and laughter were entertaining, and she sincerely cared for her friends and family. She represented Avon for over 30 years, drove the beer cart for over 20 years on Tuesday nights at the former New Winchester Golf Course, retired from RR Donnelley, and worked in various bars and restaurants including J’s in Chatfield and Alt’s Restaurant in New Washington. At home, she planted beautiful flowers and loved the many animals she cared for over the years. She was also a huge Elvis fan and enjoyed trips to the Smokey Mountains and Las Vegas.
Joyce is survived by sons, Todd Wiparina and Shawn (Angie) Wiparina; stepson, Joseph Graham; grandchildren, Jennifer (Justin) Stephens, Amanda (Tony) Beam, Taylor (Brandon) Coll, Molly Legg (George Salazar), and Abby Wiparina (Ron Bainter); and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dean Briegel.
Joyce will be laid to rest with Chuck in a private ceremony in Union Cemetery, Sulphur Springs. She requested memorial contributions be made payable to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) through Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus.
