Joyce E. Seigneur

Joyce Elaine Seigneur, 93, of Bucyrus, died Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Maplecrest Assisted Living.



She was born on July 13, 1927 in rural Metamora, Fulton Co., Ohio to the late Jay and Mary (Barnes) Tredway. Joyce was a 1945 graduate of Metamora High School where she participated in the Glee Club and played trombone in the marching band.



Following graduation, she worked in an office in Toledo where she later met Paul N. Seigneur while attending a Boy Meet Girl dance at the Trianon Ballroom in Toledo. They married on November 1, 1947 in Metamora and later made Bucyrus their home in 1951.



Joyce was often on the go and had to be doing something, but when she did sit down, it was either to needlework, crochet or do other crafts for which she won many blue ribbons over the years at the Crawford County Fair.



She was a very active member of First Christian Church and upon it closing, joined Bucyrus United Methodist Church.



Joyce had a great love of traveling and took many trips throughout the US and Canada. She and Paul enjoyed a couple of cruises, with Alaska being her favorite. They also enjoyed wintering in North Port, Florida prior to her stroke in 2010. Some of their greatest travels have been closer to home by simply attending as many events and activities that involved her grandchildren over the years.



In addition to Paul, her husband of 73 years, Joyce is survived by children, Joy Lauthers of Bucyrus, Scott Seigneur of Caledonia, and Don (Barbara) Seigneur of Chillicothe; daughter-in-law, Pam Seigneur (Mike) Meadows of Bucyrus; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson and a sister, Dorothy Hayden of Swanton.



She was preceded in death by a son, Jim Seigneur, grandson, Kurt Lauthers; son-in-law, Gail Lauthers and sisters, Irene Ricker, and Lorraine Harper.



Her family will receive friends from 11 – 11:55 am Tuesday, March 9 at Wise Funeral Service, where her funeral will begin that day at 12:00 pm with Pastor Brad Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
