Joyce Eileen Dickey, 89, passed peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025 at Wyandot Memorial Hospital.
Joyce was born December 29, 1935 in Crawford County, Ohio to the late Birt and Nellie (Beamer) Clark and was a 1953 graduate of Mt. Zion High School. She was formerly married to Richard I. Dickey and together, they raised four daughters.
Joyce spent 20 plus years working at United Ohio/Ohio Mutual Insurance Co. where she served as an executive secretary prior to moving to Florida in the late 1980s. While living in Florida, Joyce worked for Convergys and spent years residing in both Sanford and Deltona before returning to Crawford County in 2000 to be closer with family.
Joyce loved singing and writing poetry. For many years, she sang soprano in the Sweet Adelines and throughout her years of writing, was privileged to have some of her poems published by the American Poetry Association. She was also an avid reader prior to her loss of sight and enjoyed audio books in more recent years.
Joyce will be remembered for her great sense of humor and was always optimistic about everything. She loved spending time with her family, had a big heart for animals, and loved decorating her home during holidays, especially Christmas and Easter.
Joyce is survived by daughters, Marsha Scholl of Bucyrus, Susan (Mark) Groves of Galion, Laurie (Jim) Downing of Upper Sandusky and Lisa (Mark Eaches) Schifer of Blountville, TN; grandchildren, Wulf (Val) Downard, Sally Downard, Dustin (Katie) Litteral, Kelsey (Bryan) McKinley, Jennifer (Matt) Mikel, Nicholas (Meg) Downing, Michael (Jordan) Mastro, Nathan (Bri) Downing, Aaron (Taylor) Schifer, and Adam Schifer; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Maxine Shifley of Dublin, and a sister-in-law, Rosie Clark of Bellaire.
Joyce was preceded in death by her stepmother, Grace Poole Clark; siblings, Betty (Bill) Bursby, Jean (Dwight) Sharrock, Donald Clark, and Arlene (Ron) Neumann and brother-in-law, Herb Shifley.
