Joyce A. Hahn

Joyce A. Hahn, 83, of Bucyrus, died on February 21, 2021 at Altercare in Bucyrus after a brief illness.

Joyce was born June 16, 1937 to the late Scott and Dorothy (Shutt) Linn in Bucyrus. She attended Bucyrus High School and married James E. Hahn on July 7, 1954. They were married for 32 years before he died on April 25, 1987. Joyce was a bus driver for Bucyrus City Schools for almost 40 years and she enjoyed every moment of it. She ran a tight ship and her philosophy of “respect goes both ways” led the children to love her. Joyce met her longtime companion Glenn Holdcraft during her time as a bus driver. Having both lost their spouses, they bonded and helped each other with their individual losses. This led to a wonderful companionship of 34 years. One of her favorite times to drive the bus was when she got to drive the marching band to their football games. Upon arrival she would join Glenn at the stands and watch the game before driving the kids back.

Joyce enjoyed gardening, traveling, being an avid fan for the OSU Buckeyes, and decorating for the holidays as well as for the four seasons. Joyce never knew a stranger. She seemed to know everyone and when she ran into a friend, she always took the time to catch up with them. Once a month she would meet with her three close friends for lunch. Joyce also enjoyed helping others. After she retired, she was offered an opportunity to be an aid on the handicap bus which she dearly loved. Joyce also took part in Meals on Wheels for 10 years. She was strong in her faith and she rang bells at the First Presbyterian Church in Bucyrus for several years. Joyce was honored to be a Deacon and took that role seriously.

Joyce is survived by her daughter Josette Mok; grandchildren Jason Hahn, Jessica Stetson, Mi-Lynn Mok, and Haylee Mok; nieces Rene Jones and Debby Burman; brother-in-law Chet Johnston; friends Carol Rothhaar, Helen Carter, and Nancy Murphy. Along with her longtime companion Glenn Holdcraft, Joyce is survived by Glenn’s daughters; Cathy (Bill) Jaworski and Donna (Dick) Sterling; and his grandsons Joshua and Scott Jaworski; his granddaughters Emily, Abbie, and Molly Sterling. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, her son James E. Hahn II, sister Shirley Johnston, and her parents.
