Joseph J. Williams, 57, of Nevada, died Sunday, January 9, 2011 at his home following a brief battle with cancer.

He was born in Bucyrus on March 8, 1953 to the late Edward and Mary (Katona) Williams. Joe graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1971 where he was a split end on the 1970 undefeated football team. Prior to falling ill, he worked for Diamond Door in Upper Sandusky. He also worked for Tecumseh, Titan Transportation and Consolidated Biscuit Co. over his career.

Joe married the former Dorthy Funk on April 29, 1995. She survives along with five children, Holly Williams of Bucyrus, Cierra Williams and Tiara Williams, both of Kansas, Alisha Williams and Austin Williams, both of Nevada; his sister, Gale Williams-Jensen of Montana; and nephews, Stephen Jensen of Montana and Bradley and Gregory Patrick of Nevada.

In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Cliff Jensen.

Joe was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and had a passion for coaching youth. He coached football, basketball and baseball for 37 years and was currently the 8th grade boys' basketball coach for Holy Trinity School.

Friends may call Thursday, January 13 from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W Warren St in Bucyrus. Following Joe's wishes, he will be cremated and no funeral service will be held. Memorial contributions may be given to Wise Funeral Service to assist with expenses or to the Holy Trinity Basketball Program.
