Jill Lust

Gilda Rae “Jill” Lust, 69, died peacefully on Tuesday evening, surrounded by her family.

Jill was born on September 10, 1954, in Bucyrus to the late Daryl and Geneva (Haney) Ehmann. She spent her childhood on a farm in rural Bucyrus before graduating from Colonel Crawford High School in 1973.

Jill married Duane Lust in 1986. She became a mother in 1987 when their oldest daughter, Kayla, was born. A few years later, Jill had twins, Brandon and Brittany. Jill’s three children were her pride and joy, and she devoted her life to them. She had a gift for making occasions extraordinary, from her perfectly decorated Christmas tree to a beautifully set table for every holiday.

Throughout their marriage, Jill and Duane explored new places across the country, usually with their children in tow. Their cross-country road trips, including one to California and back, were among Jill’s favorite memories. More recently, Jill and Duane visited Hawaii for their 25th anniversary, another cherished memory.

Jill’s loyalty was evident throughout her life. She worked at Ohio Mutual for more than 40 years before retiring in 2017. She maintained lifelong friendships, and in retirement enjoyed going to lunch and on occasional girls trips. Jill’s day to day life consisted of long phone conversations with her family, using her creative talent to make cards and scrapbooks, and watching her favorite movies. Like generations of her family before her, Jill had an unfailing belief in God and was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church.

Jill will be greatly missed by many, including her husband, Duane, her children Kayla Lust of Bucyrus, Brandon (Annie) Lust of rural Sulphur Springs, and Brittany (Dmitrii) Filatov of rural Bucyrus, her sister, Krista (Dan) Gerhart of North Carolina, and many extended family members and friends.

All services for Jill will take place at Good Hope Lutheran Church on Monday, April 15. Her family will receive friends in the church auditorium from 11 am – 12:50 pm. Her funeral will take place at 1 pm in the sanctuary led by Pastor Tanyce Addison. She will be laid to rest in a private burial at Sandusky Cemetery, which is near the Lust Family Farm.

Donations in Jill’s memory can be made to Good Hope Lutheran Church or the Humane Society Serving Crawford County and will be accepted at the church on the day of service or through Wise Funeral Service. Memories and photos can be shared on the guestbook.
