Jennifer A. (Davis) Swisher Ellis

Jennifer Ashley (Davis) Swisher Ellis, 42, of Bucyrus, died unexpectedly on December 1, 2025.

She was born on December 30, 1982 in Marion, daughter of James L. Davis and Ruth Ann (McClain) Kanney. Jennifer grew up in rural Bucyrus and at an early age, took interest in gymnastics. She was also active in the Americettes Baton and Flag Corp and continued flag twirling in high school as a member of the Col. Crawford Flag Corp. Jennifer went on to graduate from Pioneer in 2000 where she studied cosmetology. This led to her becoming a Managing Cosmetologist and co-owner with her sister, Ayndria Lacey of Reflections Salon in Bucyrus. Jenn next followed in her father’s footsteps, as she entered law enforcement by becoming a corrections officer at MANCI in Mansfield. Following an injury, she stepped aside for a brief period and was currently working as a corrections officer at North Central Correctional Complex in Marion. Her spitfire personality, combined with her being a quick-witted individual, enabled her to do the job asked of her.

Jenn was supportive of her children and was their biggest cheerleader at their events and activities. She will be remembered for her likeable and caring personality, which allowed her to fit in with anyone she met. She had a nickname for practically anyone she loved and she certainly had a big heart for dogs, especially the ones she’s owned throughout her life. In her younger days, she enjoyed caring for and riding her horse, Twisty and in more recent years, she spent a lot of time tending to both her flower and vegetable gardens which she found to be very relaxing. She was a free-spirited individual who loved socializing with friends and enjoyed motorcycle rides as well as throwing darts.

She will be deeply missed by her dad, Jim (Melina) Davis; mom, Ruth Ann (McClain) (Steve) Kanney; husband, Josh Ellis; her greatest accomplishments being her children, Kaitlyn Goeschl, Mia Wells and Trey Swisher; siblings, Ayndria (Jesse) Lacey and Travis Davis; niece, Chloe Lacey; nephew Carson Lacey; maternal grandmother, Vina Quinlan as well as many aunts and uncles.

Jenn was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Clyde & Winona Davis; maternal grandfather, Arthur Keckler and her adopted maternal grandfather, Glenn McClain.

Jenn’s family will celebrate her life privately and she will be inurned in Oakwood Cemetery. If desired, donations can be made payable to Wise Funeral Service to help celebrate her life and will be accepted through the funeral home. Words of encouragement and online memories are encouraged to be shared on her guestbook at www.wisefuneral.com.
