Jeffrey Boyd Michael

Jeffrey Boyd Michael, age 73, of Bucyrus, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023. He was born on March 11, 1950, to Beverly Boyd Michael Ruhl and Walter R. Michael, both deceased. He is survived by his sister, Jean (Timothy) Eagan, of Spring Lake, Michigan, and two nephews, Patrick M. Eagan and William J. Eagan, of North Carolina. Other surviving relatives include Mary (Kohel) Haver of Portland, Oregon and Susan Deluca of Rochester, New York.

Jeff attended Bucyrus High School, Culver Military Academy, and the University of Oklahoma. Additionally, Jeff completed two years of architecture school at the University of Cincinnati. 

He enjoyed traveling the world. Jeff spent a year in Africa and Egypt directly following college. He was a concert pianist, an accomplished photographer, writer and artist, studied yoga, as well as being an avid beekeeper and maple syrup producer. Jeff had a passion for astrology, history, and genealogy. Jeff was very active in the Bucyrus community where we was a member of Bucyrus Lodge 139 Free & Accepted Masons. Further, he helped restore the copper dome on the courthouse in Bucyrus.  

Jeff operated a foundry business for several years. Jeff’s family were industrialists as his paternal great grandfather was the founder of the Ohio Locomotive Crane Company (now American Crane) and his maternal great grandfather started the Galion Iron Works (now Komatsu). Jeff’s grandfather, Walter J. Michael was the founder of Pickwick Farms, a standard bred breeding facility for harness racing.
