Jeffrey C. Keller, 74, died early Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Legacy Assisted Living in Bucyrus, under the care of Gentiva Hospice.
He was born June 2, 1948 in Bucyrus to the late Frederick C. Keller and Martha E. (Althouse) Keller, who survives. In addition to his mother, Martha, Jeff is survived by brother Charles Keller and his wife Lynne Volk Keller; nephews Andrew Keller and wife Cynthia He; and Michael Keller and wife Melanie Swandy-Keller; and grandnephew Orion Keller.
Jeffrey was a 1966 graduate of Col. Crawford High School, where he took a keen interest in the sciences. He went on to study computer programming at The Ohio State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree.
Jeff kept to himself most of his life and loved the great outdoors. He worked for a summer at Glacier National Park and hiked and climbed there as well as in the Teton Range, Mexico, and Southern Colorado. He enjoyed a challenging game of chess and was a lifelong learner whether by reading or watching documentaries. Studying his family history and his ancestor’s military service records led to Jeff’s interest in the Civil War. He visited several battlefields where the 49th OVI fought and also regularly attended meetings of the North Central Ohio Civil War Roundtable.
Jeff will be laid to rest privately in Oakwood Cemetery. Those wishing to contribute in his memory are asked to make checks payable to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and given through Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus.
Memories and photos can be shared on Jeff’s Tribute Wall.
