Jason Everett Chapman

Jason E. Chapman, 51, of Galion passed away at home on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. He was born in Marion to Guy M. Chapman and Beverly Everett Chapman on November 13, 1971. On May 23, 1998 he married the love of his life, Karen Scheffler of Bucyrus, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

A 1990 graduate of Buckeye Central High School, Jason spent his life in a truck cab delivering lumber products, Coca-Cola, or ethanol throughout central Ohio. Known for his organizational skills and his ability to tackle a project and creatively make improvements using materials on hand, he valued efficiency and hard work. He had a big heart and would help anyone in need, even donating his organs to Lifeline of Ohio. Tyler could always count on Jason to problem solve his way out of his “slight dilemmas” and Travis appreciated his willingness to give a helping hand and help fix any situation. Jason’s love for playing high school basketball made him an avid collegiate basketball fan who eagerly looked forward to March Madness. He also watched Wheel of Fortune, enjoyed westerns, and visited Hocking Hill with Karen.

Jason is survived by his wife, Karen, of 25 years; mother, Beverly Roby of Carey; son, Cody E. Chapman; stepsons, Tyler (Cassandra) and Travis Stuckert; mother-in-law, Julia Scheffler; brother-in-law, Mark (Marla) Scheffler, all of Bucyrus; aunt, Nancy (Tom) Hafer of LaRue; special cousin, Heather (Doug) Treadaway; step-grandchildren Titus, Claire, Charity, Thoman, Lillian, Abigail, and Isaiah; and his beloved cats.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hershel and Wavie Chapman and Robert and Gertrude Everett; his father; father-in-law, Milton Scheffler; and stepfather, Bill Roby.

Visitation and service will be held at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus on Tuesday, August 1. Family will receive friends from 4-5:55 pm and the funeral will begin at 6:00 pm with Pastor Tanyce Addison officiating. He will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers are encouraged to be made payable to Humane Society Serving Crawford County or a charity of the donor’s choice and given at the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on Jason’s Tribute Wall.
