Janet E. Snodgrass

Janet E. Snodgrass, 81, of Nevada, earned her wings as she passed peacefully Saturday afternoon, October 14, 2023 at Westbrook Assisted Living in Upper Sandusky following a lengthy progression of Alzheimer’s. 

She was born November 27, 1941 in Athens, Ohio and was loved by her adoptive parents, Rollie B. and Princess J. (Campbell) Hite. Janet was a 1960 graduate of Nevada High School and on June 11, 1961 married Larry E. Snodgrass who preceded her in death on September 18, 2022. 

Janet worked various jobs throughout her life but prided herself in caring for the needs of her family as a homemaker. She and Larry were fortunate to enjoy many travels, with a couple of their favorite spots being The Smokey Mountains and Las Vegas. She loved visiting with her grandchildren and, for many years, her Sunday tradition was church, followed by a meal at Long John Silvers in Marion. Janet was an avid reader and enjoyed anything with a cover. She also kept her mind sharp by working crossword puzzles and word searches. For relaxation, she enjoyed time spent playing her Nintendo Game Boy. All of her plans were scheduled around Jeopardy! and the Wheel of Fortune, as she rarely missed an episode. 

She is survived by three children, James (Floremar) Snodgrass, Lee (Mary) Snodgrass, and Laura Light; five grandchildren, Kristin (Clinton) Madden, Nicole (Chris) Smith, Victoria (Philip) Donnersbach, Sarah Snodgrass, and Bryan Snodgrass; as well as five great-grandchildren and one expected.

In addition to her parents and husband, Janet was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Hite and son-in-law, Mitch Light. 
Services will be held at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. Her family will receive friends from 11 – 12:55 pm and her funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Life Celebrant, Lisa Snyder officiating. A procession to Nevada Cemetery will follow where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
