James C. Mason

James C. Mason, 64, died Tuesday, September 9, 2025 after suffering a heart attack.

He was born December 25, 1960 in Galion and attended school at Col. Crawford. Growing up, he built treehouses, found mischief, and caught tadpoles with his siblings. While he loved taking things apart to see how they worked, putting them back together was for someone else. He worked a number of jobs over his life including for Honey Creek and D&F Collision.

Jimmie will be remembered for his jokes, stories, and great sense of humor. He was also generous and would help anyone he could as he was able. He was a gifted artist, played a little guitar, and listened to classic rock. Before his health declined, Jimmie loved being outdoors whether doing yard work, fishing, or just taking in nature. At home, he enjoyed the company of his cats, Pumpkin and Spookie, while watching his favorite programs and game shows.

James is survived by his stepfather, Richard Johnston; siblings, Stephanie Mason Wilcox (Shane), Shelly Knisely (Jeremy), and Charles Johnston (Dawn); long-time girlfriend, Robbin Ray and her sons, Shawn Napier and Brandon (Amy) Taylor; his son, Nathan (Renee) Bostic and their children Natalie and Jonathan; daughter, Stephanie Rowsell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois W. (Dauchenbaugh) Johnston; brother, Richard L. Mason; niece, Brittany Price, and sister-in-law, Lea K. Mason.

The family will gather privately for Jimmie’s services. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to make them payable to Humane Society Serving Crawford County and give at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus.

Memories and photos can be shared on the guestbook of Jimmie’s tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
