James H. Hunt

James Harold Hunt, 77, of Huron, passed away September 22, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.



James was born February 12, 1944 to the late Harold Herbert and Vivian Ilene (Lanning) Hunt in Mansfield. He attended Mansfield Senior High School before joining the Air Force. James served until 1965 then began working at Sanese Vending. He worked there for many years until he retired. James married the love of his life, Thelma Bowen, on March 6, 2003. The two then moved to Huron.



James loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He also liked to go camping, fishing, and boating on Lake Erie. James would watch the birds and squirrels in his yard whenever he spotted them. When he wasn’t appreciating the outdoors, James was tinkering away with antiques and any equipment he could get his hands on.



James is survived by his wife of 18 years; children, Loretta Lynn (Gary) McCutcheon, Mildred (Jeff) Dauchenbaugh, and Richard (Greg Reed) Hunt; grandchildren, Ceira Rumas, Amy (Braxton) Arnold, Megan (Scott) Dauchenbaugh, Jachob Dauchenbaugh, Katherine (Michael) Bixler, and Anthony (J.W.) Hunt; nine great-grandchildren; brother John (Sue) Hunt; and family friend, Peggy Starr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his previous wives Nancy Loretta (Welch) Hunt and Mary Ellen (Ridgenoir) Hunt.



James’ family will receive friends from 12-2 PM, Saturday, September 25 at Wise Funeral Service with military honors to follow. A private burial in Union Cemetery, Sulphur Springs will be held on a later date.
