James D. Sullivan

James D. Sullivan, 81, died Thursday evening, April 7, 2022 at Altercare of Bucyrus where he had been a resident for over five years.



Jim was born in Bucyrus on November 19, 1940 to the late John G. and Ruth E. (Pfouts) Sullivan. He graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1958 and earned a bachelor's degree in business from Tiffin University. Jim was a member of the Ohio National Guard and the former First United Methodist Church. He worked in purchasing for various companies including Swan, North Electric, and United/Sprint Telephone from which he retired. He also owned and maintained rental properties in Florida and Bucyrus.



Jim will be remembered for being a hard worker and for the determination that brought him success. While work was his primary hobby, he played golf on occasion and enjoyed gardening, growing prize-winning roses.



Jim is survived by two sisters, Virginia Schiefer of Bucyrus and Pam (Kevin) Vogel of Lakeside; nephews and niece, John (Michele) Reed, Eric (Angie) Schiefer, Chris (Jill) Schiefer, and Janelle (Brian) Blue; along with extended family.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Julia Reed, and her husband, Don; brother-in-law, Richard Schiefer; and nephew, Brian Schiefer.



Services will be held at Wise Funeral Service on Tuesday, April 12. Jim’s family will receive friends from 12-12:55 pm and his funeral will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mike Corwin officiating. Burial will follow in Brokensword Cemetery.
