Helen Irene Buck, 94, of Bucyrus, passed peacefully Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Altercare of Bucyrus.
She was born May 2, 1927 in Attica to the late Earl G. and Mildred L. (Shoup) Bowersox and was a graduate of Attica High School. On June 13, 1953 she married Charles L. Buck II and shared 49 years of marriage until his death on August 3, 2002.
Helen was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bucyrus, where she taught the youth Sunday School class, sang in the choir, and served on COTTA. She was also a member of the Bucyrus Chapter #3 O.E.S., serving as Treasurer and Past Worthy Matron. Following the closing of this chapter, she joined the Warpole Chapter #366 O.E.S. Helen was also a member of the Ladies Shrine Club.
Helen cared for her family as a homemaker and was a very active mom to her three sons. She loved children and was proud to have cared for many youngsters as a babysitter for many years. Helen enjoyed holiday and birthday gatherings and was always up for a family cookout. She had a standing appointment to have her hair done every Friday and always kept her nails looking shiny. For relaxation, she did word puzzles and whenever you were around Helen, there was always a radio or TV on so she could keep up on the local news, as well as worldly happenings.
Helen is survived by her sons, James (Sharon) Buck II, Charles (Penny) Buck III, and Randy (Julie) Buck; grandchildren, Valerie (Josh) Robbs, Brandon (Emily) Buck, Sarah (Todd) Schrecengost, Daniel (Susan) Buck, Kristen Buck and Ryan Buck and fiancée, Kayla Broekhuis; great grandchildren, Alexa, Arabella, Bronson and Addison; great-great grandchildren, Carter, Gabriella and Anthony; sister, Donna (Bill) Lambert as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Walter Bowersox, Ray Bowersox and Naomi Brause.
Her family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Thursday, December 9 at Wise Funeral Service, where the Order of Eastern Star will recite their service that day at 5:45 pm. Funeral service for Helen will be held at 10:30 am Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bucyrus with Pastor Mike Greenler officiating. Friends and family are invited to meet at 2:00 pm Friday at Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky for her committal service.
If desired, donations can be made payable to either St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or to the Warpole Chapter #366 of O.E.S. These gifts will be accepted through the funeral home or at the church on day of services. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her tribute page.
