Helen I. Brammer

Helen Irene Brammer, 58, of Galion, passed peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in the presence of those nearest and dearest to her.

She was born on July 17, 1964 in Oakland, California to David Sr. and Sharon (Eggelston) Rigney. Helen’s family spent a portion of her youth in the Napa Valley area before she moved to Bucyrus. In 1982 she graduated from Bucyrus/Pioneer where she studied cosmetology, but her main goal was to become a mom. On May 1, 1993, she married Douglas S. Brammer and shortly after, her goal became a reality as they started a family, which is what made Helen happiest.

In addition to being a loving mother and wife, Helen spent 25 years at Artic Cat and was most recently employed at the Dollar General Distribution Plant in Marengo.

Everything Helen did was to benefit her family. She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes to share with her family, and she cherished any time spent together. Christmas was a special time, as she got to spoil her daughters with gifts. As they grew older, their family replaced exchanging gifts with creating memories. They did this through Christmas vacations and some of these experiences included a trip to Lambeau Field to watch the Packers/Browns game, as well as travels to Michigan and Arizona. Their family enjoyed traveling in general and they shared many good times in places such as Lake Erie/Put-In-Bay, Destin, Florida, Savannah, Georgia as well as visits to California.

Helen was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church. She had a big heart for animals and enjoyed their various pets. She kept busy by tending to the flowers and completing home improvement projects around their home. Helen also loved golf, kayaking, spending time outside on the patio under the pergola and shopping trips with her daughters.

In addition to Doug, her husband of thirty years, Helen is survived by her mom, Sharon (Hubert) Smith; daughters, Danyelle Brammer, Alexis (Kyle) Dowell and Holly (Cory Peterson) Brammer; brothers, Kevin (Casey Esterline) Clady and David Rigney; step-brother, Chris (Danielle) Clady; close friend, Mandy Paez who she considered a sister; sister-in-law, Vicki (Jeff) Moran; brother-in-law, Shawn (Shannon) Vanderlois as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was looking forward to meeting her grandchild who her daughter, Alexis is carrying, and she will certainly be watching over all she loved. Helen was preceded in death by her father, David Rigney, Sr.

Memorial calling hours will be held from 1-3 pm Sunday, May 21 at Wise Funeral Service, where her memorial service will follow that day at 3:00 pm with Pastor Tanyce Addison officiating. She will privately be laid to rest at a future date.

If desired, donations can be made payable to the Pink Ladies of the Galion Owls or a charity of the donor’s choice. These gifts will be accepted through the funeral home and expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her tribute wall.
