Harold E. Lewis

Harold E. Lewis, 84, most recently of Bloomville and formerly of Bucyrus died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

He was born July 9, 1927 in Portsmouth to the late Bliss and Della (Hicks) Lewis. Harold was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army Air Corps, and in 1966 he married Connie K. Stahl who preceded him in death in November, 2010.

Harold worked as a body man, mechanic and a welder. He also worked for Ohio Crane as a painter until retiring in 1980 and did yard work for Walter Michael for a number of years. Harold loved being around family and working on cars. He also enjoyed being around and feeding animals.

He is survived by children, Kenny Lewis, James (Darlene Grayson) Lewis, Donna Downing, Rosie Phillips, Darrell Lewis, Michael Lewis and Lee Lewis; numerous grandchildren, specifically Nicole Lewis who helped care for him; brothers, John (Trudy) Lewis and Darrell (Carolyn) Lewis, both of Bucyrus; special niece, Deb (Ken) Musselman as well as other nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Euwilda Lewis of Bucyrus and two close friends, brothers Luther "Bub" and Scott Banks.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Earl Lewis and two sisters, Wilda Lawhun and Jo Ann Mayes.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 4 at Wise Funeral Service, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery where full military rites will be provided by the US Army and Am. Legion, Post 181 Honor Guards. Memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society Serving Crawford County through the funeral home.
