Glenda L. Shull, 81, died peacefully on Monday, December 31, 2018 at her home.
Glenda was born in Bucyrus on September 18, 1937 and was the youngest of four girls born to the late Glen and Velma (Treisch) Batton.
She was a 1956 graduate of Bucyrus High School and soon thereafter began working at Timken. She spent 30 years before retiring and moving onto being a “professional” and fun-loving grandmother. Glenda was first married to Earl Hugh Baker, who survives and from that marriage came three children. After their divorce, she married Dick Shull and they shared 33 years of creating memories until his death in 2008.
Everything Glenda did revolved around family. There were many good times spent at their cottage at Eckels Twin Oaks Campgrounds at Lake Erie. They fished for perch, enjoyed some boating activities, sat out by the campfire but her most favorite times were spent socializing with family and friends on their screened in porch. Glenda also looked forward to gatherings at her sister, Norma’s home especially when it came time for the family to make their annual multi gallon batch of cream style corn or Christmas candy during the holiday season. As much as she loved Summer, she equally loved Christmas time as it allowed her the opportunity to spoil her grandchildren with gifts. She had an incredible sense of humor and wasn’t afraid to be the “occasional joke.” Glenda spent many hours tending to her garden and enjoyed crafting ceramics with her sister, Norma.
Glenda enjoyed her daily routine of Maxwell House coffee, morning tv shows, which always included Regis and Kathy Lee or Kelly and more coffee throughout the day and when the Cleveland Indians or OSU Buckeyes were on, it was impossible to pull her from her tv.
She is survived by three children, Kim (Chuck) Humphrey, Chris (Rochelle) Baker and Kevin Baker all of Bucyrus; six grandchildren, Matt Sebring, Chelsea (Jeremy) Goldstein, Jordan (Chelsie) Baker, Trey (Maigan) Baker, Amanda (Brent) Townsend and Joshua Baker; nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Pat Combs and Shirley Huggins as well as a very close and special cousin, Karen Rarick and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Burris.
Her family will receive friends from 11 – 1:55 pm Saturday, January 5 at Wise Funeral Service, where her funeral will begin that day at 2:00 pm with Celebrant Mark Dettmer celebrating her life. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Donations can be made payable to the Epilepsy Foundation as Glenda lived so many years with this disease. These gifts will be accepted through the funeral home.
