Gerald Glen Crissinger, 90, of Bucyrus passed away peacefully Saturday morning, June 10, 2023 at Galion Community Hospital. His health had been failing since a bad fall and broken hip occurred in early May.
He was a lifelong resident of Crawford County, born September 10, 1932 in Bucyrus to the late T.J. “Mike” and Ruth (Brinkman) Crissinger, and a graduate of Mt. Zion High School.
Gerald enjoyed a full life. In the 60s, he worked on the family dairy and grain farm. Work transitioned to operating his own livestock hauling company. One of Gerald’s customers, Wendell Burkholder, convinced him to join him as General Manager of Burkie’s Meats, a custom meat processing plant. He purchased the business in the early 1990s, changed the name to Glenville Packing, and it is still in operation today. Gerald retired in 2011.
Gerald was a 75-year member of the local chapter of the Ohio Grange where he served in many capacities. He also raised Belgian draft horses for many years.
Gerald is survived by his son, Jon (Heather) Crissinger; grandsons, Noah, Adam, and Levi; and nephews and niece, Glen (Ardelle) Noggle, Dave (Julie) Noggle, and Tena (Chase) Eyster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby Cover, and twin infant daughters.
Gerald’s family will receive friends on Monday, June 19 from 4-6 pm at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. He will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.
Memories and photos can be shared on Gerald’s Tribute Wall.
