Geneva A. Cleland

Geneva Ann Cleland, 87, died early Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Carlisle Place under the care of Avita Hospice.

The only child of the late Carl F. and Faith L. (Hoover) Neff, Geneva was born in Galion on December 15, 1938. She was raised on her family farm and graduated from Sulphur Springs High School. Geneva married Eldon B. Cleland on August 24, 1955, sharing nearly 56 years of marriage when he preceded her in death May 19, 2011.

Geneva was a proud farm wife and mother of three boys. Completion of harvest provided time for her and Eldon to do some of the things that they enjoyed most which were spending time with family, traveling or going on cruises, and dining out. She also crocheted and enjoyed gathering with friends from school days.

Geneva is survived by three sons, Dennis and Debra Cleland, Douglas and Tracy Cleland, and Randy and Sarah Cleland; nine grandchildren, Joe (Shannan) Cleland, Chris Cleland, Sara (Josh) Rowlinson, Matt (Holly) Cleland, Mark (Jess) Cleland, Eric Cleland, Ally Cleland, Jackson Cleland, and Hope Cleland; and 17 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Geneva was preceded in death by two great grandchildren.

The Cleland family will gather with friends for her graveside funeral in Oakwood Cemetery on Friday, April 10 at 11:00 am with Pastor Andrea Taphorn officiating.
